A DCF roll-top dry bag is a classic choice. It offers a great level of lightness, waterproofness, and ease of use, all thanks to its simple design. So far, roll-top closures are mostly used in waterproof storage systems – they are lighter than water-resistant zippers and more waterproof than drawstring systems.
On the other hand, Dyneema Composite Fabric benefits from the ease of seam taping compared to Sil/PU-Nylon, which is often used. Furthermore, the Dyneema laminate does not absorb any water because the ultra-strong UHMWPE yarns are pressed between two polyester films – while Polyamide woven fabrics can absorb up to 8% water, meaning drying is sometimes needed. The film on both sides allows the use of PSA tape for seam sealing, which is much more durable than the heat-activated taping method.
This particular 1,5 L bag can be rolled down up to four times in harsh conditions, but a standard three-time roll provides a fully waterproof storage system and a bit more space (>1,5 L).
What is the 1,5 L version suggested for? Mainly to store the trail essentials like headlamps, inflatable pillows, Sawyer Mini or Squeeze water filters, running gaiters, or hiking towels.
